What a night for Southland flooring.
Invercargill & Winton Flooring Xtra had a night to remember in Auckland at the very first FloorNZ Excellence Awards, coming home with three incredible wins and a whole lot of pride. The team was recognised across both commercial carpet and hard flooring categories, with two standout projects receiving national recognition.
The Award Wins:
Commercial Carpet 1st Place
SBS Bank, Invercargill CBD
Commercial Hard Flooring 1st Place
Dunedin Outpatients
Overall Supreme Winner

Recognising Excellence in Flooring
FloorNZ supports flooring retailers, wholesalers and installers throughout New Zealand, helping to promote quality, professionalism and industry standards across the flooring sector. To be recognised at the FloorNZ Excellence Awards is a proud moment for any flooring business. To receive three awards, including the Overall Supreme Winner, is something truly special.
These awards celebrate more than the finished result. They recognise the planning, preparation, technical skill, problem-solving and teamwork that sit behind a successful flooring project. And both of these projects had plenty of that.
Award-Winning Projects, Delivered by a Local Team
The SBS Bank project in Invercargill’s CBD was recognised for commercial carpet, with the team completing a large-scale installation that involved careful planning, after-hours work and a strong focus on repurposing existing flooring rather than sending it to landfill.
The Dunedin Outpatients project was another major undertaking. Located 205km from base, it required a huge amount of coordination, floor preparation, logistics and teamwork. The result was not only a win for Commercial Hard Flooring, but the top honour of the night — Overall Supreme Winner.
Both projects show what can be achieved when skilled people, clear communication and genuine care come together.
Proudly Southland
For Invercargill & Winton Flooring Xtra, these awards are a proud reminder that local expertise can stand tall on the national stage.
A massive thank you goes to everyone involved in these projects — the installers, labourers, project managers, suppliers, contractors, clients and support crews who helped bring the work to life.
Three awards. Two standout projects. One very proud Southland team. And yes, we are still pinching ourselves.
